Description
This tasty trail mix is named for Chunky Gal Mountain and its Cherokee legend. Chunky Gal Mountain is roughly an 8-mile ridge that runs beneath the Appalachian Trail and Glade Gap in the Fires Creek area. According to legend, the mountain got its name when a beautiful, but buxom (i.e., “chunky”) Indian Maiden from one tribe fell in love with a brave from the Wayah Tribe. The father of the brave objected to the union, so they ran away across the mountain. But his father caught up with them and brought the heartbroken brave home. Later, when settlers inquired about the name of that same mountain, the Cherokees would say, Chunky Gal.
